PARIS Spring 2004

The audience was rich and everyone knew everyone. Princesses, English socialites, the haute Bourgeoisie and of course the usual fashion victims were all in attendance to see the young designer's debut collection. There was much I admired. Dynasty style ensembles, larger than life, brought back the eighties vividly. These were entrance making clothes for the client with a grand life and a grander cash flow. Fox and chinchilla large fur cuffs and lapels accented voluptuous cashmeres, satins and wools. The ladies in the audience must have easily seen the impact the slinky evening dresses might have, because they applauded each gown. The affable perfumer Blaise Mautin was on hand in his lab coat, and where he walked, elegant scent wafted over the room. It was a little slice of Paris.
