PARIS, March 2, 2006 - Young Belgian designer Christian Wijnants made his Paris début on Thursday evening with a show staged in the Music Gallery of the Musée de l'Homme. Swan headpiece-tiaras inexplicably crowned a series of metallic gray dresses, some ornamented by lace trimming, and most cut with a silhouette that didn't really work. There followed a series of tops that wrapped around the arms like straight jackets, almost resembling bandages of an Egyptian mummy. It didn't help that models walked like zombies, or that some of the billowing capes could have been used as a costume for the Wicked Witch of the West, or that the soundtrack of creepy organ music sounded fit for a horror show.
