Paris, July 7th-- Christian Lacroix presented a quiet, snowy ambience for his discreet and luxurious collection. He featured tiered body conscious gowns in watery greens, blush and charcoal and ivory under protective fairy tale coats and jackets with deep fur cuffs and collars. The few “charity gala” gowns he presented prompted one of his faithful clients to whisper to her companion, “Who dresses like that any more?” “Charity gala goers,” whispered the other. It was this other silhouette, reminiscent of the Edwardian Age, when women wore slim, decorative gowns and were covered up in voluptuous coats that stood out. It was so easy to be taken in by the fairytale glamour that one might miss the little details, the lushly embroidered neckline of a simple taupe silk jersey short dress under a pale blue floral coat, tied with crimson ribbon, or the pink peeking from under a slim black lace cocktail dress under a black lace coat. The embroidered black tunic with the boat neckline was a perfect pairing with the gorgeously and intricately embroidered body hugging pants. This was modern haute couture at its finest.
