Dior
By Christine Suppes
Paris is burning, there are wars in the streets and in the deserts, and John Galliano is in a blood drawing, fighting mood. Blood red gowns and tunics dominated the runways, worn by deranged looking blonde female warriors in oversized brown leather combat boots. One model had 1789 "tattooed" onto her neck---the eve of the French Revolution. This show was the opposite of calm, just the way Mr. Galliano likes it. When he took his bows en garde like a miniature Zorro, he showed us his irresistible court jester side, and momentarily made us forget his blood soaked message. Oh yes---and red will be very popular this spring.
