PARIS, January 24, 2006 - Dominique Sirop sent out a collection on Tuesday afternoon notable for its finesse and artistry. The show was a sort of theme and variations on a silhouette, that of a mermaid, replete with form-molding gowns and pencil skirts. Even the wedding dress of white tulle followed the same motif, which was spruced up elsewhere with glittering appliqué, ruffles, polka-dots and glistening ribs of beading.

A sleek gown swirled with grey and white satin and ebony tulle draping, while a little black dress incorporated pleats of turquoise silk streaming down the back. A chocolate-colored leather confection was wrapped in bows at the waistline.

Sirop has mastered his technique as a couturier since being elected a full member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, and his collections nowadays are full of panache and polish. Chosing the Salon Impérial of the former Hotel Intercontinental, he also chose to show in the same room that was home to Yves Saint Laurent for many years.
