PARIS, March 2, 2006 - British design team Clements and Ribeiro sent out one
of their most convincing collections in recent memory for Cacharel on
Thursday. A Nordic gray permeated the clothes, though the palette quickly
broadened to include a shimmering bronze lamé ribbed dress and numerous takes
on golden knit sweaters. A sleek leopard print jacket was worn over gray
leggings, while a magenta pleated dress fluttered in an invisible breeze. A
steady stream of colorful highlights (pale lilac, dusty plum, lemony yellow)
caught the spotlight as photographers clicked away.
Program notes described a walk through a northern forest in wintertime, and a
certain melancholy settled in the steely earth tones that were presented for
Fall 2006. The show brought a fresh, clean take on the eclectic tradition of
Cacharel.
