PARIS, January 30, 2006 - Y is for Yurkievich at Gaspard Yurkievich,
where the initial was plastered onto sweaters, shirts, and just about
everything else. (The designer’s full name was sparingly saved for a
belt where it was projected in gold lamé.) The collection went the
gamut from dungaree style fluttering trousers to the tightest of
tights. One squeezed in model looked as if he was going to sing soprano
if only he could have opened his mouth. Of the bizarre combinations
shown on the runway none was more kooky than the military jacket paired
with leotards. A bondage vest replete with oversized tassels was worn
with studded bracelets and a sparkling lurex backpack as accessories.
