In November of 2004 Hotel Okura Amsterdam started an extensive alteration of its hotel rooms. The standard hotel rooms have been substantially enlarged, making them the largest standard hotel and bathrooms of all five-star hotels in Amsterdam. Developments continued with the construction of The Suite, the largest (485 m2 / 5390 ft2) and most luxurious suite in the Benelux countries. For the construction of The Suite the hotel invested 2,3 million euros. Designing one of the most magnificent suites in Europe was the main challenge put to the famous London architectural firm of RPW, who were entrusted with the design and execution of The Suite. The Suite occupies two top floors, which have been transformed, into an oasis of space, warmth and luxury, an environment delightful to all the senses. The almost 360-degree view of Amsterdam, the picture windows and the natural daylight form a beautiful backdrop to the architects' creativity. Marble floors, silk wallpaper, rich fabrics and warm colors are just a few characteristics of The Suite. The Suite's central reception area features a dramatic fiber optic chandelier, which cascades through the void over the dining area below. Next to the atrium are two richly decorated lounges, which also have a view of the city. A glass stairway with LED lighting leads up to the two master bedrooms on the upper floor: The Cullinan and The Excelsior. The bathrooms are unique: one features a chromatherapy ever overflowing bath system and the other features an agape spoon luxury bath. Both bathrooms have a shell-shaped shower cabinet with a rain-dance air overhead shower, massage side steams and a view of Amsterdam. The lounges, bedrooms and bathrooms are all provided with flat-screen TVs. In addition, the rooms have spacious walk-in closets and the Excelsior Room features a Technogym training bike. Furthermore, the Suite boasts a private cinema (84 inch screen) seating up to 12 guests. This extremely luxurious room is also perfect for exclusive presentations and videoconferencing. In addition to its exclusive furnishings, The Suite also offers very advanced equipment, including a Bose Lifestyle 48 audio system, Wi-Fi and ADSL. Guests are provided with a central control system for adjusting lighting, security options and room temperature. On request a dinner in The Suite can be prepared by one of the Okura's Michelin-star-awarded Chefs and limousine service. Jasja Blanken / Public Relations Manager Phone: +31(0)20 - 67 87 488 |
