PARIS, January 28, 2007 - The carefree elegance of the collection that Lucas Ossendnijver sent out for Lanvin Homme on Sunday morning certainly caught the air of the women's side of the House. It's interesting how much of the spirit of Alber Elbaz was in it. You could almost see his signature in the brooches of twisted satin, the red-tip of a jewel pinned to one lapel, the tease of mink that trimmed a hood. The polished collection went the gamut from shiny gray pants, to a bright iris silk shirt, to an understated forest green overcoat. "The silhouette was either very large or very small," Ossendnijver said after the show. "With some sweat pants thrown in". As a gold-leaf ceiling stared down from the upper salons of the Hôtel de Crillon, the boys streamed along the catwalk, hats pulled down over their high foreheads. The clothes looked light, notable for their lack of pretension. A Prince of Wales overcoat was tied at the waist, other jackets gently tapered. Earlier, Alber Elbaz was turning up the sleeves of one youthful model when a well-wisher complimented him on his recent Légion d' Honneur. Jokingly, he pointed to the crimson stitching of his lapel pocket and replied, "Now I feel like a real lady."
