Julien Macdonald Julien Macdonald made his name in knits at Versace, lost it in glitz at Givenchy, and continues it with both in London. As for the collection he showed on Tuesday: what can you say about big torso wrapping satin bows, nipple revealing crocheted tops, silhouette teasing tufts of fur (indiscernible origin), or a fuzzy faux tiger skin jacket? I once came across a Bea Arthur fan web site, on which the webmaster realized his lifelong dream of posting a self-made photo of the iconic star of Maude and The Golden Girls. That image, snapped while Ms. Arthur uttered the immortal phrase "take the (expletive deleted) picture!", spoke volumes not only of the abilities of her hairdresser, but also to the lateness of the hour, with effects of an open bar, visible in the background of a second shot. For Macdonald's show, see the pictures. < London Main Menu |
