Costello Tagliapietra
by Marilyn Kirschner

'Jersey Boys' Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra put themselves on the fashion map with their elegant, draped jersey dresses several years ago. Their fall 2007 collection was just 26 pieces, well edited, and to the point and they even managed to get Anna Wintour (a longtime supporter) and some of her editors to sit in the front row and watch the parade of predominantly knee length, jersey dresses in gray, black, brick, ink, purple, blue, and red. Many featured gathers, draped fronts, cowls, pleats, funnel necks, and low v- backs. One of the most beatiful was one of the simplest: a pale gray cap sleeves dress with side cowls.

This time, in addition to their signature dresses, they added some separates- pants, sweaters, and 7/8 length coats (which were belted, had kimono sleeves, and shown over asymmetrically draped slightly longer skirts). Swarovski crystals embellished a number of pieces and high heeled ankle strap shoes and booties were courtesy Manolo Blahnik for Costello Tagliapietra.
