Paris Menswear Autumn/Winter 07/08

Paul Smith
By Timothy Hagy, Paris Editor

PARIS, January 28, 2007 - British designer Paul Smith must have had an autumnal landscape on his mind, at least judging from his choice of colors. Bronze, chestnut, deep plum and rich gold painted velour evening jackets, while daytime tweeds and pinstripes took a more conservative turn than in previous seasons. Gone were vibrant flower motifs sprouting on shirts and jackets and in was a wardrobe reminiscent of Harry Potter's school days. Pant legs were cut high at the ankle to reveal any number charming suede shoes and boots. Smith's sharp tailoring never much changes from season to season, and his polished clothes looked destined for young men with good manners.
