Gareth Pugh's conception of a fall wardrobe—fluttering black straps, transparent plastic wraps, and tiers of mane—might be dismissed as folly, save for the brilliance of his designs. One coat confected of crocheted steel-gray wool circled with rings of shiny black plastic spoke more to futurism than did much of the couture shown recently in Paris. When it was all said and done, the lone male model got the best outfit of all—Raf Simons take note.
