Hermès
By Timothy Hagy, Paris Editor

PARIS, January 28, 2007 - Continuing with Sunday's luxury theme, Véronique Nichanian presented her collection for Hermès at the Grand Palais. The show was full of beautifully nuanced pieces, tailored for the most part from exotic hide—buffalo, calf, lambskin, crocodile and believe it or not, lizard. Those leathers went into trench coats and jackets, while pants were stitched of finest wool. For evening, glazed suits subtly shimmered in the stage lighting. Add in silk shirts and cashmere sweaters, and the end result was a wardrobe full of classically elegant pieces that didn't pretend to be anything else. That's the nice part of Hermès, and the reason that the label attracts men with good taste, and nothing more to prove.
