At Kenzo, The Living Is Easy
By Timothy Hagy
PARIS, July 4, 2005 - The Kenzo Homme collection was shown on a rainy Monday
morning in the spacious Atelier Richelieu where white lawn chairs framed the
walls, and trays laden with strawberries, apricots and strong caf filtr
awaited guests.
Models with hair slicked back meandered around long rows of editors and
buyers.
Inspired by sportswear of the 20s and 30s, the collection mixed together
various ethnic motifs - South American prints, Asian kimono stitching, and
Spanish toreador sashes to come out light and carefree.
From stylized prints to colorfully lined jackets, to a pale raspberry trench
coat slashed off at the waist, the clothes mirrored the soundtrack
Summertime and the Living is Easy.
Program notes described the look as nonchalant elegance, and theres
nothing wrong with that.
