FOR THE TSUNAMI VICTIMS
Fashionlines asks our readers to give generously to the tsunami
stricken countries. Here are two good sites. Also, do not forget
the Red Cross and Oxfam are also worthy and strong organizations.

FROM NEW YORK VIA PARIS
Carolina Herrera
Portrait of
a Fashion Icon by Alexandra Kotur, with an introduction by U.S.
Vogue's European Editor-at-Large Hamish Bowles, has recently
been published by Assouline Editions. From vintage photography
of Carolina Herrera's aristocratic upbringing in Caracas to portraits
by Andy Warhol and Robert Mapplethorpe, the elegance of the New
York-based designer is captured in glossy print. As Ms. Herrera
says "nowadays
women want to dress like young girls, but when I was young,
we wanted to look grown up and sophisticated".

FROM PARIS
A Change of Designers at Paco Rabanne
The artistic direction of Paco Rabanne, owned by the Barcelona-based
Puig Group, has been entrusted to American designer Patrick Robinson,
38, who will replace Rosemary Rodrigues. "A divergence of opinion" was
given as the reason for the Ms. Rodrigues' unexpected departure.
She had received overwhelmingly positive reviews by the international
press since her appointment in 2000. Patrick Robinson will show
his first collection for the label in March 2005. After having worked
for Armani, the designer was artistic director for Perry Ellis for
three years. Paco Rabanne will remain a consultant.
