Dominique Sirop is master of tucks, folds and draping. But he is a
god of the diaphanous. In his hands, the sheerest silk chiffon becomes
the body and wings of an angel. He creates beautiful tailored trouser
suits, accented this season with brown and black leather belts a la Ralph
Lauren. But there the resemblance stops. His jackets wrap the body as
they maintain the sharp tailored line. A charcoal silk jacket with quarter
inch stitched swirls throughout the body and the sleeves presented us
with the daytime couture moment. The evening gowns are light and dreamy.
Once in a while, Mr. Sirop utilizes a long semi-precious stone necklace
to anchor his airiness. His beaded silk tunic, shown with a casual brown
leather belt and a long strand of rough cut medium sized crysophase had
the right look for a Los Angeles premiere or cocktail on a terrace in
Saint Remy. Mr. Sirop dresses Queen Rania of Jordan. Need we say more?
