The hobo is an enduring couture look. It was
made unforgettable by Gelsomina, the loveable down and out street performer
in the 1954 classic Fellini movie, La Strada, played
by the director's wife, Giulietta Masina. Fred Sathal recreated
a beautiful hobo-tramp who picks up flowers, nets and little shiny
things she finds along the way and decorates herself with them. The
result is a charming elegance that doesn't try too hard or take itself
too seriously. It is young and chic. The embroidery is breathtaking,
the cut is youthful and the collection gives a lyric announcement
of spring.
