Late on Tuesday evening, the residual sparkles of the Dior show could be seen illuminating the sky lighting in the newly renovated Grand Palais. These were not a reflection of Sharon Stone’s diamonds, but the last embers of the staging dying away into the night sky.
What had unfolded some hours before was a tribute to the Spirit of Dior, which also happens to be the name of an LVMH -sponsored ( a subsidiary of Dior Couture) exposition just unveiled in the same space.
John Galliano delivered his version of that - nude upon nude, which program notes detailed as the color of choice, as used in various combinations. No matter what was put into print, most editors seemed to draw a direct line to the legendary Kate Moss, supermodel who once posed nude, but since her fall from H&M glory is said to be in rehab.
There were any number of addictive pieces floating along the runway, a skirt that declined in shades of nude, saffron and black tulle, a sheer top dripping down from nude to powdery lavender, a strapless evening gown with nude bustier riveted with diagonal pleats falling through ochre to emerald.
