California born and raised Rick Owens worked as an Indie designer on the West
Coast for several years. He won the CFDA Perry Ellis Award for Emerging Talent
in 2002 and made the big move to Paris the following year. Along with his own
line, he is Artistic Director for Revillon, the French fur label founded in
1723. Owens refers to his clothes as “glamour meets grunge”, although his look is becoming more structural, but never conceptual. He is a strong believer in separates, and functionality in clothes. He has stated that his clothes can work for non-model bodies, and this season, his white, silver and beige collection of jackets, skirts, tops and trousers look comfortable and elegant for the beach or in town.
