Short, shiny, shimmering and light...the effortless glamour of charmeuse at lunch, glitter in the morning, nothing heavy---this was the siren call from the runway. Menswear (at Bill Blass, Ralph Lauren and others) was certainly shown, but who wants to dress like that if these party girl options are available? Clothes for work? No, not exactly. New York is finally giving in to what the French have always known. We crave fantasy from the runways, especially when what we are subjected to on television is so grim.
