Jenni Kayne
THE BLACK & WHITE AFFAIR
By Sedef Kokcuoglu

LA, October 25 - Jenni Kayne’s new collection comes to fruition at the crossroad of Parisian elegance, precise Italian tailoring and effortless American style. Inspired by 1920s and 1930s phenomena like flappers, Great Gatsby, Vionnet, and the Duchess of Windsor, Ms. Kayne’s new body of work celebrates feminine looks cast in “black and white color-ways with refreshing splashes of orange, neon green and gray.” These clothes are retro-élan’s radiant modern day reincarnations. In this collection Jenni reinterprets black and white frames from a distant past with such refreshing vigor that her vision transcends the moment giving life to timeless grace.

Jenni often exclaims, “I am surrounded by so many creative people that influence me on a daily basis…musicians, models, artists, photographer, actors, other designers and directors. My collections are based on contradictions. I mix glamorous and casual, sexy and sophisticated.” This season in concordance with a relentless desire to explore new boundaries, experiment with unique combinations and challenge artistic limitations Jenni Kayne once again delivers the ingeniously unexpected. The inventive designer’s pique tux jackets, chiffon balloon blouses, organza ruffled caplets, sleeveless kimono knits, cashmere hoodies, silk apron tops, and antique lace skirts synthesize traditional chick with contemporary flair to meet modern day needs. The is panache defined by the new-old.
