PUG INSPIRED
By Sedef Kokcuoglu
LA, October 25 -
William Blake’s famous quote, "To see a world in a grain of sand and heaven in
a wild flower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand and eternity in an hour,"
speaks of discovering beauty and meaning in the most unlikely places. Taking
to heart a similar approach, Octavio Carlin of NAQADA, finds inspiration
in his pug Cairo’s adorable face. This season the talented designer,
who has successfully helped LA fashion redefine new-age style proclaims,
"Whether it is a wrinkly dog’s face or a pair of denim shorts glamour’s
new face is your own."
In Spring 2005 Carlin’s dazzling cocktail dresses,
inventive ecru sci-fi totem pieces, sizzling moiré cuts shorts,
sensible D-ring trench coats, fun leather trim crop pants and playful
strip cotton jersey V camis celebrate the charm of tasteful élan sans
exaggerated embellishments. This season instead of intricate embroideries
or hand-sewn beads NAQADA creations employ luxuriously opulent fabrics,
festive colors and feminine silhouettes, (thanks to sashes and corsets),
to accentuate a womanly allure.
