After resuscitating prim and proper glamour, pioneering a return to ladylike elegance and banishing risqué from the catwalk, Miuccia has once again opted to explore new fashion frontiers. At a time when many international designers debuted their Prada-esque cardigans accessorized with multiple broaches, scenery print circle skirts and snugly fit tweed jackets, the Italian visionary extraordinaire conceived a new look inspired by vanity birds that is certain to spread like wildfire. These artfully crafted clothes imitating peacocks, swans and parrots resonate with an avian sense of grace and irresistible weightlessness.
For Spring 2005 Ms. Prada used precise cuts and skillful construction to create youthfully sleek and unusually sporty pieces accentuated by eccentric elements such as bird feathers, crochet details and origami-like flower appliqués. Diverging from the staple pastels of generic spring collections, Miuccia opted to cast her creations in zesty brown, sizzling red, and brooding rust colors. Fashionlines predicts Prada’s peacock skirt luxurious in its green, turquoise and blue hued splendor will be the coveted item of the new season. Also the digital feather print dresses in striking yellow and cool gunmetal are bound to be young starlets’ fashion favorite for a memorable run down the red carpet.
