The Legion of Honor is the highest French medal that can be bestowed on an individual.
It is gloriously beautiful, but cannot be bought. Sorry, fashionistas. And
congratulations to the International Herald Tribune's Suzy Menkes.

FROM SAN FRANCISCO
One of our favorite galleries, Paule Anglim, presents New Work by John Roloff. The artist will present new works in several formats linking conceptual and metaphorical imagery. For many years the artist has examined geological change and the forces behind biological shifts in our planet's history. Roloff's work builds an awareness of transformations on and beneath the earth's surface, while addressing parallels in the history of human interactions. Roloff will use photography and sculpture to tie together images of power as manipulated and channeled through shapes, vessels and tools.
