While Los Angeles disintegrated under the pouring rain Shay Todd showcased a smoldering beach-wear collection channeling tropical paradises of far away lands. The designer described her work as, “The mystical and spiritual past of Hawaii, Jamaica and Polynesia collide with high fashion and become ONE somewhere at sea.” Indeed, the long procession of hula babes walking the catwalk in tiny bikinis and cut-out swimsuits cast in golden sand, mint, baby pink, crystal blue, aqua and fuchsia were spellbinding apparitions of sunny rapture.
The most inventive pieces in the line up were the hand painted dondi dresses and tops conceived as bikini cover-ups, but expect to see these inventive creations worn as is to cocktail parties and casual luncheons.
