Bora Aksu certainly has a fascination with the woods in the fall. For Fall 2005 the young Turk had reinvented Little Red Riding Hood. Still larger than life, she captured the imagination with a sculpture-like silhouette. Then, as opposed her trademark crimson she traveled through the forest in captivating asymmetrical chiffon dresses, cast in reserved grays, plums and browns, with refreshing splashes of tangerine, lime and burgundy. This winter the cute little girl, with a knack for capes, seems to be replaced by what appear to be lumberjack-ettes, but the festive color palette she so loved endures. Dressed in coarse yet insulating fabrics folded in drapes during the day, Bora’s new breed of unlikely heroines morph into fairies of the forest, as the sun sets behind the horizon. After nightfall, out come beautiful dresses with fluid hemlines and the magic is complete.

In Bora Aksu’s positively sophisticated; undeniably imaginative creations, layering is the key to the supple appearance of the clothes. Hand crocheted details and intricate constructions add spice to the delectable mix. While certain pieces have a stiff appearance, the core of the collection is rather delicate and ephemeral.
