Thanks to her eclectic taste and unique vision Consuela Castiglioni quickly carved out a niche in the fashion industry. In no time her curvilinear creations, cast in bold and colorful patterns, became all the rage amongst urban hipsters, yearning for a bit of exotic exuberance. However, the only constant in fashion is flux. Thus, all designers must evolve with time. Aware of the need to grow and experiment, Consuela has begun to reinvent her label.
The Marni Fall 2006 collection is positively gown up and undeniably reserved. Brilliant hues have been traded in for dusty pinks, ecru, peach and gray. Shapes are more linear and streamlined. Certain trademark looks, like belted duster coats and voluminous chemises remain, but bubble skirts and asymmetrical have been pared down. Loose fitting gray pants are ubiquitous and go with practically everything. The mini abbreviated jackets and fur cuffed skirts are absolutely adorable.
The only unsightly detail on the Marni runway was the shiny Birkenstocks worn over opaque tights. That said, Ms. Castiglioni’s effortlessly charming, slightly slapdash clothes epitomize modern chic.
