Zac Posen is definitely not just another pretty face. Yes, he is extremely photogenic and has the sort of features, (especially his dramatic eyebrows), and carriage befitting of a movie star. Not to mention a strong ego and a lot of confidence. And I guess that physical blessing comes in handy when you desire to dress some of the most beautiful and celebrated stars on the planet, which is what the talented Posen has done thus far in his short career which began in 2001. He immediately became a ‘darling’ of the young Hollywood set including Claire Danes and Natalie Portman, with decidedly sophisticated, dressed up suits, cocktail dresses, and evening gowns, many of which feature nostalgically glamourous details like bias cuts, fishtail hems, and voluminous bustle backs (perfect for the Red Carpet).

And it seems everywhere you look or read these days, there he is. Most recently he joined forces with the hipper than hip jean company, Seven for All Mankind, to create a small group of exclusive and very expensive blue jeans, and he has just launched his first accessories line, just in time for his spring 2006 show I might add. Because on Thursday evening, he accessorized many of the outfits with his exotic bags and oversized satchels. He also showed one of his well cut long and narrow jeans under a well cut short ivory jacket and accessorized it with one of his bags and a big brimmed straw hat.

Zac has always been highly influenced by “strong, confident, and sexy women” and it’s obvious that he really loves women because he seems to celebrate them in his feminine designs. His collections are traditionally much more about cocktail and evening than daytime and that was the case this time around as well, although daytime was hardly ignored. In addition to his lovely dresses (many of which are short, high waisted, will full graceful skirts of rolled hemlines), he showed variations on the skinny pant and jacket theme; offered his take on a classic khaki trenchcoat; created a cocktail dress out of men’s silk tie fabric; used golden satin for a beautiful bare top high waisted short dress with slightly curved under hemline; and scored with a group of crowd pleasing knitwear and crochet pieces. As always, he closed the show with attention grabbing, voluminous, entrance making ballgowns (which have the Golden Globes and Oscars 'written' all over them), and his pale cloud- gray strapless number with voluminous floor sweeping skirt and cascading ruffles seemed to have the model walking on cloud nine.
