Scherrer's Nostalgia for Days Gone By

PARIS, March 7, 2005 - When a show begins with a soundtrack referencing Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, you can pretty much guess what's in store. The brat pack lives on, at least in Scherrer's boutique collection, which was seemingly inspired by 60s memorabilia. Try a raspberry suit tied up with big bows, or the oversize buttons that stood out on an overcoat, and you might have had a flashback to the era of the Kennedy White House. Floppy hats and head bands made a statement, as did all the trimmings - that being copious amounts of silver fox and mink, and sparkling, sparkling brooches. Perhaps the lyrics "your own personal Jesus", were added because the show was staged on a Sunday morning, because most of what Stéphane Rolland sent down the catwalk did not look destined for a church pew.
