Boclet replaces José Levy, whose collections for the label garnered uneven critical review. |
WASHINGTON, April 19 - Emmanuel Ungaro announced yesterday that it had named Frank Boclet as new artistic director for men's wear. The French designer previously worked for Kenzo Homme and Courrèges, before taking on a 15 year stint as creative and artistic director for Paris-based Francesco Smalto. In a press release, Boclet called the opportunity to bestow Ungaro Homme with a more prominent sense of heritage and elegance "a fantastic challenge". "It is an international couture brand, essentially recognized for its glamorous femininity. It is this alliance of the attachment to values and the irresistible desire to stand out, to surprise with details, the sense of mixing and balancing between authenticity and more personalized notes, that is the essence of the brand."
