This season Camilla’s dark vixens dressed in leather and lace, pulsating with sex appeal, have set sail for eclectic destinations. Casting aside the smoldering allure of black garbs, they have dived into pots of lively colors like sapphire, terra, peach, silver and ivory.
A cross over between bohemian influences and retro 80s looks Staerk’s new collection was created for the many faces and moods of the modern woman. Some of the pieces that stood out in the line-up are a silver silk satin column, belted with a crimson knitted cumber bund, a floor length sleeveless Lycra gown with fluid hemlines, and a brown suede strapless dress featuring asymmetric skirts. However, it goes without saying that Camilla was at her best when she was not trying so hard. When the designer ventured into the territory of heavy lace ensembles with leg of mutton sleeves and high waisted hourglass skirts, the simple, effortless core of her work was muddled.
Finally, the crow motif Camilla used ubiquitously had a gloomy and ominous effect. In the wake of war and natural disasters a more uplifting theme would have been a better choice for spring.
