PARIS, March 3, 2005 - There is always something for everybody at Cacharel, a label with a reputation for eclecticism. British design duo Clements and Ribeiro have continued that tradition, one which has served the company well even during difficult economic times. Thursday's show was inspired by a well-traveled wardrobe. From Scottish tartan to Eastern European peasant dresses, to some interesting glistening oriental brocades sheared off into micro-shorts, there was no shortage of ideas. Some of the cute layered skirts, trimmed in black crepe, seemed void of a discernable ethnic identity, however. The problem with being eclectic is that it's difficult to hold it all together, and from a styling point of view that is disappointing. From a commercial one, it's all smooth sailing.
