Nagasawa Gets it Right

PARIS , March 5, 2005 - One of the unexpected bright spots of Paris fashion week was the Yoichi Nagasawa show on Saturday afternoon.

If you are interested in poetic grace, you need look no further than the Japanese designer's pale tulle skirt à la Degas Danse Bleue. If you are interested in wit, take a glance at the birdcage dress with tiny little canaries hidden between the folds.  If you are looking for creativity, try the abstract print tights sewn into tennis shoes. If you like beauty, see the crochet tops and the diagonally layered skirts.

New age raindrops gave way to Debussy's Claire de Lune, as the soundtrack reduced stress as gently as a good masseur's hands. After a week riddled with ill-conceived collections aimed at selling over-priced junk to over-saturated consumers, an artistically styled show with creative savoir-faire was just what the doctor ordered.
