By Timothy Hagy, Paris Editor

Paul Smith has the reputation for being a classic tailor who adds just enough extra spunk to his collections to create a fresh new take on men’s wear. As London does not hold a separate fashion week for men, he choses to show in Paris twice a year. For Summer 2006, Smith delivered a first rate collection resplendent with sharp suits and juiced up with tangerine sweaters and exotic print shirts and pants. Gone were all the heavy flower power effects that dominated previous seasons, and in was a more subdued, yet elegant look. These clothes looked destined for some cool vacation spot where the champagne flows in abundance.
